Police have found a body in Whanganui River after a man was seen in distress near Anzac Parade.

Police said the National Dive Squad had recovered the body after locating it about 4.30pm.
A man had been seen in distress near Anzac Parade about 3.15pm, Whanganui acting Area Commander Sue O'Neil said.
O'Neil said a rāhui would be in place for three days from Te Ao Hou marae, past Pūtiki, out to the river mouth.
