A police operation is under way after a fisherman was reported missing in Glenorchy.

The man who went fishing in Lake Wakatipu near Benmore Place was reported missing by a friend who was fishing nearby.
Queenstown police, who were alerted around 3.20pm, say the man was last seen fishing near the shore before he went missing.
Police have started a search and rescue operation to find the missing man.
