Police in Wairarapa are appealing for information about an apparent hit and run incident in Carterton early this morning.
The incident occurred on State Highway 2 near Plimsoll Street.
A 42-year-old man is in a critical condition in Wellington Hospital.
He was found by a member of the public about 2am.
The police were due to close a section of the road to carry out a scene examination this afternoon.
