A three-car crash north of Rakaia this afternoon has left three people injured.

Police said the crash was reported at Main South Road in Bankside, rural Canterbury, about 2.15pm.
St John Ambulance said one person was airlifted to Christchurch Hospital with serious injuries.
Two others - with moderate and minor injuries respectively - were taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Police reopened Main South Road, which is part of State Highway 1.
