The remains were found on Rangipo Intake Road near Tongariro on Tuesday last week.

They are believed to be those of a Chinese man in his 30s who has not been seen since 2017, although formal identification is yet to be completed.

The examination of a property on McWhirters Farm Lane in Massey, west Auckland, was completed this morning.

The current occupants of the property have nothing to do with the investigation.
