A 42-year-old man has been charged with murder after a death of a woman in Christchurch this morning.

The woman was found with critical injuries at an address on Orchard Road at about 6.50am.
Police said they expected to complete a scene examination today.
A spokesperson said the man would appear at the Christchurch District Court tomorrow.
They confirmed that the person charged was the same man was taken into custody at the murder scene this morning.
