A woman who was found critically injured near Christchurch International Airport this morning has now died.
A man was taken into custody and police have now launched a homicide investigation.
Emergency services were called to a property on Orchard Rd just before 6.50am.
Police say the woman was found critically injured and died a short time later.
They said a man at the scene was taken into custody and is assisting police with their enquiries.
Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the woman's death.
