Two people have been rescued from the sea in Northland.
Police received a report just after 1am that a man and a child had not returned from a fishing trip.
A search using a police Eagle helicopter located the pair about 400m from shore, in mangroves near Te Ngaio Point Road, Tapora.
They were airlifted to hospital.
