Parliament locked down after protesters attempt entrance

8:15 pm on 6 September 2019

Security at Parliament has been temporarily tightened since a small number of protesters tried to charge into one of the parliamentary buildings this afternoon.

RNZ understands the activists tried to enter Bowen House, but were removed by security guards.

The main entrance to the Beehive has been locked and security is controlling who can enter and exit.

The Lambton Quay entrance to Bowen House has also been shut off; all staff and guests are being directed to the Bowen Street entrance.
