Police in Gore are asking the public to help identify a masked man who robbed a bar at knifepoint last night.
The robbery at Traffers Bar on Hokonui Drive happened at about 8.45pm.
Detective Sergeant Scott MacKenzie said a man wearing a mask demanded cash from the manager, but could not get into the cash register and fled on foot.
Police said they believed he headed west onto Traford Street and possibly crossed a field at the end of the street.
Officers want to hear from anyone with information that could help identify him.
