Three people were rescued from the roof of their car after getting stuck in the Waimakariri River this evening.
Police were called at about 6.30pm after an adult and two children were stranded atop their car near Eyrewell Forest.
The three were winched to safety by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter at about 8.30pm.
While cold and wet, the family were not injured, police said.
