A man has died in a kayaking incident in the central North Island this morning.

Police were called just before 10.30am after reports a person was missing in the Tongariro River, near Waikato Falls.
An operation to rescue the man was launched, but his body was found just over two hours later.
Police and search and rescue teams have retrieved the man's body out of the water.
