A truck and trailer with sheep onboard has flipped after crashing, with live power lines downed across the vehicle, police say.

Police said the crash at Moorhouse Road near Cliffords Road in Ashburton, about 10.45am, involved just the single truck and trailer unit.
They said the driver was assessed for minor injuries and it was unknown if any sheep were injured. A vet was called as a precaution.
Police said they were bringing in a heavy haulage crane and it would be some time before the truck was removed.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area.
