State Highway 2 between School Rd in Karangahake Village and Waitawheta Rd in Waikino would be closed to through traffic on Monday evening between 8pm and 5am, NZ Transport Agency said.
Detour options are via Hikuai and Kopu which will add one hour and 20 minutes to the journey, or via Tauranga and Matamama which will add one hour and 45 minutes to travel time.
Overnight on 19 and 20 March, road works will be carried out between Old Waitekauri Rd and Seddon St in Waikino. A detour will be available via Waitawheta Rd and Old Tauranga Road, which will add about 15 minutes to the journey.
The work is a continuation of asphalt resurfacing that started last week. It is weather dependent and could be postponed.
