Police are searching for a man who fled a car following a police chase in Christchurch last night.
The car, with a woman and child also inside, was seen in Avonside about 12.45am speeding through a red light.
Police said the driver failed to stop for the police and fled at speed.
The pursuit was abandoned several minutes later due to excessive speed but police continued to follow the car.
It was found abandoned on Loxley Place in Lincoln where it had caught fire, the driver fled the scene on foot.
No-one was injured as a result of the fire.
