A Uruguayan woman has been charged with careless operation of a vehicle following a fatal quad bike crash.

The 28-year-old was driving on a farm at Wakefield, near Nelson, when it rolled last month, police said.
Her passenger, a 29-year-old French woman, died at the scene.
Detective Constable Bronwyn Inglis said drivers of all motor vehicles had a responsibility to drive in a safe manner, whether on private property or on the road.
The driver is expected to appear in the Nelson District Court tomorrow.
