Figures obtained by Radio New Zealand show special vehicle lane infringements had the sharpest increase during that period, up 340 percent from $2m in the 2011 financial year to $6.8m in the last year.
The total figure of $32.5m also includes parking, towage and traffic infringements. This figure was $21.1m in the year to June 2011 but almost as high - $32.4m - in 2013/14.

But the number of parking metres in the city is lower than it's been for the past seven years.
There were 798 metres in central Auckland and surrounding suburbs in the year to June 2018, down from a high of 933 in the 2012 and 2013 financial years.
