Paul TeHiko, a 40-year-old builder, died of a gunshot wound at his Wainuiomata home on Jack Vaughan Grove.

Detective senior sergeant Mike Sears said the time of death had been narrowed down to between 9.45pm and 10.15pm on Wednesday, 7 March.

The police remained dedicated to the investigation but still needed the public's help to provide closure for Mr TeHiko's family, Mr Sears said.

"Perhaps someone has seen a vehicle in the area of upper Wise Street, near Jack Vaughan Drive, around this time.

"If you saw anything suspicious or saw anyone out of place at this time we need to speak to you urgently."

Mr Sears could not rule out more than one person had been involved in Mr TeHiko's death.

"I'm convinced that there are people out there who know what happened and are wrestling with their conscience.

"I urge them to do the right thing."

Meanwhile, family member Mike TeHiko said while the family were extremely grateful for all the support they had received, they were still pleading for answers.

"We are still reeling from Paul's coldblooded murder and find it distressing to know the persons responsible are still out in the community."

He said Mr TeHiko's young son was distraught
