Police are hunting a man who entered a store in Porirua and allegedly assaulted a shop manager before taking off with cash.

A man entered the shop on Mungavin Avenue at about 2pm on Sunday and punched the manager behind the counter causing him to fall to the ground. He then stole an amount of cash and took off.

The manager suffered moderate injuries to his face in the attack.
The attacker was wearing a red T-shirt and black jeans with a red bandana tucked in the waistline.
He had a number of tattoos on his arms and curly hair.
Police are appealing for information from the public.
