Sungkwan Kim formally consented to surrender to extradition in the North Shore District Court yesterday.

Police in South Korea said the 33 year-old fatally stabbed his 14 year-old half brother, his mother and his stepfather.

New Zealand police arrested Mr Kim within a week of his arrival in New Zealand. He was charged over a historic theft.

Korean police said he had left for New Zealand two days after the killings.

Mr Kim will be held at Mt Eden Corrections Facility until Justice Minister, Andrew Little, signs off his extradition.

Mr Little said he is aware of Mr Kim's case but was unable to provide a timeframe for his decision on the extradition.
