Two people plead guilty to Dunedin assault

Two people associated with Black Power have pleaded guilty to an early morning assault in central Dunedin.

Shakarna Epere and Keith Thomas this morning admitted a charge of injuring with intent to injure, stemming from an incident on June 25th.

Two other associates are also charged in relation to the fracas, in which one of the victims was soccer-kicked while on his hands and knees.

He was knocked unconscious and one of the group then straddled him and threw punches to his head.

The attack only stopped when a member of the public stepped in.

The victim suffered concussion and facial injuries with two teeth having to be removed.

The two others alleged to have taken part will enter pleas next week.

Epere and Thomas will be sentenced on January the 30th.
