The South Island might be lucky enough to bag a heatwave as forecasters predict plenty of sunshine in the south for most of the week.
Temperatures in the North Island are not too shabby either. Despite a few morning showers, the next four days are looking to warm up, with temperatures reaching the early twenties for many areas.
MetService Meteorologist Claire Flynn said we can expect "sunshine and warmth" as we head into the working week.
"The warmest spots are expected to be in the South Island, with Alexandra looking to reach 26C on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Invercargill reaching 25C on Monday.
"We define a heat wave as five consecutive days when high temperatures are at least five degrees above average for the time of year," Ms Flynn explained.
"With temperatures forecast to be in the mid-twenties, parts of Southland, and inland Otago and Canterbury are likely to experience a heat wave this week, due to the persistent warmth."
The warmth is expected to stick around until Thursday, when a front is expected to approach the country.
