A hang glider has crashed close to the Sign of the Kiwi landmark cafe in the Port Hills east of Christchurch, police say.
Westpac Rescue Helicopter said they were helping the pilot, 47, who had broken bones but was conscious.
A police spokesperson said they were alerted just before 2pm.
They said the hang glider had gone down close to the Summit Road. An ambulance and a fire crew also attended.
The Civil Aviation Authority is investigating.
