He was Ariki River Baden Mau of Camberley.

Ariki died in hospital less than a day after being caught up in a fire at a derelict workshop on Heretaunga Street West on Monday afternoon.

Two other children survived the blaze, one suffered burns and was transferred to Hutt Hospital yesterday in a stable condition and the other was not harmed.

The building, which for many years was a chainsaw and lawnmower repair business, was believed to have been vacant for some time.

An investigation into the fire was ongoing.
