Auckland house listings up 13 percent

The number of properties going on the market in Auckland in December is up almost 13 percent compared to the same time last year.

Figures from realestate.co.nz show Auckland is bucking the national trend over the festive season.

The number of new listings in other major cities and regions dropped. The biggest fall was in Canterbury, which was down about 25 percent.

Meanwhile, the national average asking price inched up to a new all-time high of $617,847.

The average asking price in Auckland went up marginally compared to the previous month to $949,847.

Average asking prices in Marlborough and Hawke's Bay dropped.
