A Picton man has been airlifted to hospital after he crashing his floatplane while trying to land near Ketu Bay in the Marlborough Sounds.

A water taxi crew were first at the scene about 5.40pm today and helped get man into a waiting Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter.
The 55-year-old was treated by the paramedic before being airlifted to Nelson Hospital in a serious condition.
