The musician appeared in Tauranga District Court this morning after being arrested on 19 July on charges of possessing and consuming alcohol while on home detention.

He was serving eight months' home detention for threatening to kill and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis.

Under the conditions of his sentence he was ordered not to consume any alcohol or drugs that were not prescribed.

Today, Judge Robert Woolfe remanded him on bail to reappear for trial on 24 November.

A large media contingent was in court and followed him out to a carpark around the corner.

Rudd made some comments to the media before driving himself home in a black sports car.
