Convicted double murderer Scott Watson has been turned down for parole at his first appearance before the Parole Board.

In a written statement, the board says it declined to release Watson, who was convicted in 1998 of murdering Ben Smart and Olivia Hope, as it considers he remains an undue risk to the safety of the community.
The board will see Watson again in 12 months time.
