Not guilty pleas over Upper Hutt axe attacks

A man accused of carrying out an axe attack in Upper Hutt in December last year which left one person dead and three injured, has reappeared in the High Court in Wellington.

Retimana Nicholls entered not guilty pleas to all the charges he is facing, including the murder of Sandra Guerin.

He is also charged with wounding Kane Love and Thomas Guerin, with intent to cause them grievous bodily harm and assaulting another woman.

Justice Simon France remanded him in custody and he will reappear in Court later this year.
