A long-running $30 million defamation suit against Television New Zealand and the New Zealand Herald has been settled out of court.
The action was taken by Simunovich Fisheries Ltd following a television programme and subsequent newspaper articles, that revolved around allegations of corruption in the scampi industry between 2002 and 2003.
A TVNZ spokesperson has confirmed the action is no longer before the courts.
TVNZ broadcast an apology during a news bulletin late last month and several stories about Simunovich Fisheries on the New Zealand Herald website had an apology added on 23 December.
