Hunua shock at local man's death

11:41 am on 3 November 2014

A small community school, south of Auckland, is in a state of shock after the death of a local man who had three children enrolled there.

The body of the 43 year-old man, who has not yet been named by police, was found on Hunua Road early yesterday morning.

The police said they believed he was lying there before he was run over, and have since been speaking to a driver in the area.

The chair of the Board of Trustees at Hunua School, Marian Dalbin, said the man's three children were being supported by their teachers.

The Ministry of Education's trauma team would also be there to offer support to all schoolchildren, the community, and the teaching staff.
