Northland police have named a man killed in a boating accident in the Bay of Islands.
Joseph Reti, from Waikare near Russell, died when he was thrown from his dinghy after a collision with a yacht in Opua early on Sunday.
Witnesses pulled the 68-year-old from the water and tried to resuscitate him, but were unsuccessful.
A salvage operation was unable to recover Mr Reti's dinghy from the water on Monday.
Police say they are investigating the cause of the accident and a post-mortem is being carried out.
