A man has died after a boat capsized in Northland on Thursday afternoon.
A major search and rescue was launched after a man who was on the boat swam for two hours to raise the alarm.
He said his companion stayed with the 4 metre boat off Matapouri Bay.
The rescue was launched at about 6pm but the man's body was found in the water at 7.20pm.
