A Christchurch man has been charged with receiving stolen goods, after a police crackdown on businesses trading used-car parts in the city.

Large quantities of stolen car parts were found at a dismantler in Rolleston a fortnight ago.

A police spokesperson says a 47-year-old man has been charged with 12 counts of receiving stolen goods, and two charges of breaching the Secondhand Dealers and Pawnbrokers Act.

The charges are a result of the police investigation into the man's business, Independent Metal Traders.

A 27-year-old man has also been charged with one count of receiving, and one count of theft of a motor vehicle, in relation to a separate investigation.

The men will appear in the Christchurch District Court on Friday.
