A man is in intensive care after being crushed under a truck he was working on in Welllington.
Police say the incident happened about 12.30pm on Thursday at a private property in the northern suburb of Box Hill.
The 38-year-old had been working underneath a scaffolding truck when the jack holding the vehicle up broke and fell on him.
Police say the man suffered severe crushing injuries, but when he was taken by ambulance to hospital he was conscious and breathing.
He is now in the intensive care unit at Wellington Hospital in a serious condition.
