Usain Bolt declared himself "the greatest athlete" to have lived after winning an Olympic sprint double.
The Jamaican became the first man to successfully defend the 100m and 200m titles at the London Games on Thursday said he is a "living legend".
On Sunday he blitzed the competition and set a new Olympic record in the 100m, finishing in 9.63s. Before the 200m final, he suggested he could break his own world record of 19.19s.
The 25-year-old crossed the line first in 19.32s, closely followed by teammates Yohan Blake, who won silver in 19.44s and Warren Weirwon, who took the bronze in 19.84s.
Bolt's time in the 200m equalled the fourth fastest ever as he eased down in the last 30 metres, sensing that he was not on course to break his own world record.
"After a rough season I came out here and did it," he said. "I thought the world record was possible. I could feel my back strain a little bit, so all I did was to keep my form.
"I was fast - but I wasn't fit enough. I am not ready to retire. I love this sport."
Bolt won the 100m and 200m at the Beijing Games in 2008.
Meanwhile, Jamaicans took to the streets of the capital Kingston to celebrate the victory. Crowds of people waved flags and sounded horns and the festivities lasted late into the night.
