There was a sensation in the men's 110 metres hurdles final at the Olympics in London on Wednesday.

Reigning champion and world record holder Dayron Robles from Cuba failed to finish after pulling a hamstring with four hurdles to go.

Robles had missed most of the season through injury.

"I had a problem with my hamstring and I had to stop," he said afterwards.

The gold was won by Aries Merritt from the United States. Jason Richardson of the US won silver, while Hansle Parchment of Jamaica won bronze.
