Comm Games: Black Sticks fall just short in bronze match

The Black Sticks women have missed out on a medal at the Commonwealth Games with a loss to India in a penalty shootout in the bronze medal match.

India led for the majority of the match after Salima Tete opened the scoring in the late stages of the second quarter before Olivia Merry levelled the score with 18 seconds left in the game to send it to the shootout.

India won the shootout 2-1.

The New Zealand women won gold at the last Games in 2018 on the Gold Coast.
