The port worker was one of 110 Port of Tauranga workers who had to be tested after coming into contact with the Rio de la Plata container ship.

Eleven of the 21 crew aboard the ship have Covid-19.

Ministry of Health said the port worker was retested after their initial inconclusive result, but was always considered low risk.

However, the ministry is asking port workers, their close contacts, and the Tauranga community to remain vigilant and follow all health advice.
