Vodafone has been fined more than $80,000 for misleading its customers.
The company was sentenced in the Auckland District Court on Monday for breaching the Fair Trading Act in relation to a mobile internet deal that was promoted for five months in 2008.
The Commerce Commission says the company offered up to 10 megabytes of data a day for $1, but failed to tell customers how the charge was calculated.
It also failed to inform customers that they would incur the full $1 even if they used just 2% of the 10 megabyte allowance.
The case is one of six brought by the Commerce Commission against Vodafone for misleading customers between 2006 and 2009.
The company pleaded guilty to the first charge, was found guilty on the second and plans to defend the other four.
