Police appeal to public after woman was assaulted in her Porirua home

A Porirua women has been sexually assaulted for several hours by a man who knocked on her door claiming to be looking for his daughter.

Police say a 65-year-old was assaulted in her Waitangirua home on Waihemo Street on Friday morning.

They say the offender, thought to be in his late 30s or early 40s, went to at least one other address in the area saying he was looking for his daughter.

They are appealing to the public for information.

The man is described as a clean-shaven and well spoken Pacific Island or Māori man, who is over six feet tall and has short black hair.
