Police in Canterbury say they are making good progress in their investigation into the death of Renee Duckmanton.

The 22-year-old's badly burnt body was found near Rakaia last Sunday and the case is being treated as one of homicide.

Detective Inspector Darryl Sweeney said the investigation team was working long hours obtaining evidence and facts for the case.

He said staff had been brought in from outside Christchurch to help.
