An officer who was injured after fleeing from a gunman in Porirua last month is out of hospital and recovering at home, police say.
Pita Rangi Tekira shot and killed a police dog late last month in a house on Kokiri Crescent, before barricading himself inside another house down the road, where he was found dead the next day.
The officer, who police are not naming, suffered fractures to his right side after jumping through a second-storey window when Tekira pointed a gun at him.
He would need further treatment for his injuries, police said.
The house was badly damaged by fire on Sunday night.
The Fire Service was still investigating.
