Auckland traffic unaffected by bus driver strike

5:53 pm on 19 February 2016

There's heavy traffic in Auckland as a bus drivers' strike continues, but the Transport Agency says it is not unusual for a Friday.

A spokesperson said the load on the motorways was the same as what would normally be seen on a busy Friday.

However, they said evening peak traffic started an hour earlier, at 3pm.

More than 1000 bus drivers walked off the job early this morning, forcing tens of thousands of commuters to find other ways to get to and from work.

Many walked, cycled, delayed their travel or took the day off - and there were no major issues this morning.
