Police hunting for a gunman who shot at a police car during a pursuit in south Auckland have carried out search warrants in the Coromandel.
An officer was patrolling alone early yesterday morning when he was shot at five times by a passenger leaning out the window of a fleeing car.
Police have named Patrick Dixon as a man they are hunting in relation to the incident.
Police have executed search warrants in the Waihi and Whangamata areas today.
