4:34 pm on 28 January 2016

More New Zealand firefighters are being deployed to Australia - this time to Tasmania.

Forty-three of them will battle bushfires, initially concentrating on World Heritage sites in the west and southwest of Tasmania where the fire risk is described as extreme.

They will fly out from Auckland and Christchurch tomorrow afternoon to start three weeks of work.

Forty-five rural firefighters returned from Australia only this week after battling fires along Victoria's southwest coast.
