A 48-year-old man appeared in Greymouth District Court today charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after an incident in the town on New Year's Eve.
The man has been remanded in custody by consent to appear in the Christchurch District Court on 6 January.
The victim, a 59-year-old man, suffered serious head injuries and is now in a critical condition in Christchurch Hospital's intensive care unit.
