High temperatures are predicted in some parts of the country on Monday, but it's likely to be short lived.
MetService is forecasting temperatures in Marlborough to hit 35°C and 31° in Canterbury and the east coast of the North Island on Monday and Tuesday.
Auckland is expected to remain mild reaching 22° on both days.
MetService meteorologist Emma Blade said a cold southerley will move up the country on Tuesday returning cooler temperatures to most of the South Island.
