A teenage driver is dead after his car struck a grass bank on the side of a South Otago road.
He was the only person in the vehicle when it crashed on Owaka Valley Road, 27 kilometres south-west of Balclutha today, police said.
Only one lane is available to traffic until the crash scene is cleared.
Police serious crash investigators will be carrying out an examination.
