The search for a 17-year-old swimmer missing at Raglan Beach has finished for the day, with the police saying the search is governed by the tides.
Cory Joseph Edgecombe Lilley, from Hamilton, was reported as being in distress in the water yesterday afternoon.
Sergeant Phil Bell of the Waikato Police Search and Rescue Squad says the search will continue tomorrow, in line with the tides, and a plane or helicopter may be used.
He says some of the family carried out their own search today too.
